Home inspections can be intimidating for new homeowners. You’ve survived the rigors of finding your home, getting financing and preparing to move. But before you finalize your home purchase, you must hire an inspector to check for unseen issues and represent your best interests.
Needed a few things checked in our early 1900 house and he (and his assistant/partner) helped us figure several issues out, pointed out a few things we had no idea about and made suggestions. Would highly recommend. Felt very comfortable talking with him; very genuine.
Mr.Matt Walkins changed the price fee 20 minutes before the home inspection meeting. He claimed that he did not know that the corresponding house was a two stories house even though that we gave him the house address and the type of job he needs to do two days before the meeting . When we argued about the additional fee, he threatened to put a lien in a current house and sue us for no payment.
I would leave a negative if I could. I had my home inspected by Matthew Watkins. I was told to have a few things fixed before the purchase of my home which I did. Less than a year after I purchase the house I found that my rim joists were completely rotted, my beams were dry rotted due to years of moisture exposure. Upon inspection from several contractors it was agreed and found that I had a major moisture problem in my basement that if not fixed my foundation was going to crumble and the dry rotted beams would eventually give way and my house would collapse. They were able to measure the moisture with a simple handheld machine. The only thing this Matt guy had was a screwdriver. I was pointblank told that the inspector screwed me. It is now costing me thousands of dollars to correct the moisture problem and then thousands more to replace all the rotted wood and beams and joists In this house and yes I got several opinions. Plus the inspection was not cheap at all… somewhere in the 1500-1800’s. I thought at that price I would get a thorough inspection. Don’t use this company. Use someone else and have a contractor you trust come in behind them and double check. Sure wish I did because I am now screwed.
