Ron from HHI conducted the inspection for a home that I was purchasing while out of state. He missed multiple easily viewable things such as rotted wood, Trim cut too short that led to a 2 square inch hole into the garage, and most importantly he missed rather bad erosion underneath the concrete pads (driveway and walkway). Upon seeing the home and immediately noticing what an inspector was unable to my realtor had him come back out. I met Ron at the house, he took a couple of photos from standing up, never attempted to measure, or to actually see the extent of the damage. He then ammended his report to say there was “…soil in the edge of the driveway is slightly pulling away. Recommend filling area with dirt”. The voids are significant, 3-4″ deep and running over 2′ under the slab for what is essentially the length of the slab. I then called to speak to the owner. I let the office staff no my displeasure and that if I was contacted back I would be disputing the charge. JJ (the owner) called me back approximately and hour later. I requested he meet me at the house to see the actual extent of the damage of what was missed. He stated he could not because he was leaving town. He then told me he saw the pictures (pictures ron took from standing at the side) and that he would not have put it onto his report. He then told me that it was likely “caused by critters”. To which I laughed. I asked him if it was voles, moles, or gophers, he then told me I was irrational and he would not be spoken to like a child and hung up. JJ in my mind is about as unprofessional as one can be, especially as a leader of a company, there is certainly no “military standard” maintained.
