A home inspection is like getting a physical checkup on a house. It’s so important that the results can be used as a contingency clause in your purchase offer! If major problems are found, it lets you back out of your offer without financial penalty within a certain timeframe. It also gives you an edge in negotiating with the sellers. Many buyers include clauses in their contract requiring the seller to make certain repairs before any money is exchanged. If the seller isn’t willing to complete the repairs, you can estimate the cost and ask them to take that amount off the purchase price. Solid facts about the condition of the house give you bargaining power.

Richard completed a home inspection, well inspection, and septic inspection for me. He was very thorough, informative, kind, and had a great sense of humor. I was glad to have everything done in one day and by the same person.

I hired Richard and Home Inspection Service LLC to inspect a home I was in the process of buying. I was impressed with the professionalism and thoroughness of the inspection and grateful for Richard’s flexibility on the scheduling and his patience as he explained what he was finding and fielded my questions. An experienced former carpenter, Richard was able to explain what and how needed repairs and upgrades could be performed. It was like getting a course in Introductory Old House Maintenance – just what this first time home buyer needed. I heartily recommend Home Inspection Services for the comprehensiveness and quality of their services and Richard’s “bedside manner.” I am proceeding with the purchase with much greater confidence and peace of mind than before the inspection. 5 Stars!
