Mountain State Inspections LLC is a family-owned business that was started in 1994 by Mark Bonar. Mark was born and raised in Wheeling and still considers the region home, taking great pride in our status as one of the only local radon contractors in the area. We view our customers as our neighbors, and sometimes they literally are, and always aim to leave them satisfied and safe.

Since our start in 1994 we’ve made it our life’s work to make the region safe from radon contamination and have consistently exceeded expectations. Mark has performed over 6,500 home, radon inspections and mitigations throughout both West Virginia and Ohio since our start in 1994. It’s no surprise then that we have Certified Master Inspector Status, from the Home Inspector Board, and a reputation for excellence and reliability.

We chose Mountain State Inspections based on the reviews we read, and we were not let down! Mark professional, extremely detail oriented,a very informative. We used him for an inspection on a home we purchased, as well as the mold testing, radon testing, and insect testing. Mark noted every little thing that was either wrong or needed improvement/updating. He included cracked and loose tiles, missing plug grounds, recommended places for GFIs, missing flashing, bad sections of siding, areas with negative slope that causes water to flow toward the foundations, outdated garage openers that lacked modern safety features, and much much more! He detailed the urgency of these items and recommendations on how to fix them or if to have them professionally done. All of these would add up to improve the house’s resale value for the future. Even our insurance agent was impressed by the report.

Mark was very helpful and friendly while explaining things to me, as I am not very knowledgeable about homes and their issues (first time home buyer). He was thorough and his reports were organized and easy to understand. He even went back a second time to inspect the parts of the home that he couldn’t inspect the first time due to current renters clutter. Would highly recommend!!!

He took the time to explain his findings in detail. He also provided educational literature and resources. The office was very prompt and timely with coordinating an appointment. Will definitely be using this company again for home inspection needs!
