Buying a new home is probably the biggest investment you’ll ever make. There is always considerable risk involved when making such a large decision. A professional inspection will significantly reduce your risk and help make the entire home buying process easier and less stressful. Our inspectors will point out areas that need attention and explain them to you. Our inspectors will also show you the good points of the house. We will explain what routine maintenance is needed to keep the house in top condition.
I used Jeremy’s services twice and found that as a first time home buyer he was very helpful in explaining some of the nuances of the property!
I had a very good experience with Strouse Inspections. As timing would have it, I needed a home inspection as soon as possible over the holidays, and Jeremy accommodated this, doing the inspection on the late afternoon of Christmas Eve and completing the report promptly. Jeremy was extremely professional and thorough during the inspection and it was clear to me that he has years of experience as both an inspector and also a contractor. He provided me with some very useful education about my new house. This was very important to me because this purchase is my first home so I’m totally new to this process (and I’m not a handy kind of person!). He was also very patient and answered all of my questions. He made some suggestions about energy-saving things I could do in this home (whole house fan, etc.). This home has an unfinished basement and Jeremy tested the home for radon. Unsurprisingly, the test did come back with elevated radon. Fortunately, the seller was amenable to hiring a radon tech to make the passive radon system an active one. After this repair and a couple of other repairs made by the seller, Jeremy returned to the home to re-inspect the repairs and provide a follow-up report. I’m happy to note that the radon reading came in below the 2.0 pCi/L. The seller’s radon tech did place the radon fan in a livable space (basement) and Jeremy explained to me why this isn’t ideal and does not follow EPA standards. Given other concessions made by the seller, I decided that I will remedy this after closing using suggestions provided by Jeremy. Overall, I would highly recommend Strouse Home Inspections to home buyers and first-time home buyers.
Strouse Home Inspections did an amazing job. The detailed explanations verbally and on the inspection report was invaluable, in not only safety related issues with the house we were looking to buy, but the other things that were pointed out that we could fix down the road. They made it easy to focus on specific items that would need addressed before moving forward on the sale. The inspection report, complete with pictures and videos, was put together well and easy to follow. All 3 needed inspections were coordinated through them (no calling 2 or more places). Also, we (husband and me) accepted the seller’s counter offer on a Friday and Strouse Home Inspections were there during the weekend to perform the radon test and then did the other inspections on Monday afternoon. And we got the report the next day.
