As a first time home buyer of a 90 year old house, we were nervous about our first home inspection. Evan was on-time, patient and thorough. He encouraged us to walk with him so we can learn and ask any and all questions. He welcomed our input and went into detail about our new home. Evan didn’t just inspect our home, he treated is as if he was moving into it, even demonstrating certain house features for us so we were prepared for our new home! Evan was ready for all testing, even those which was not mentioned in the appointment. He did not push these extra services, but instead educated us (without scare tactics , which can be common for mold, radon, and lead inspection) and allowed us to make our own decision with the realtor. Evan was able to put our mind at ease with our home decision and even was able to turn around a detailed report with everything discussed in quick time.
When the home inspection was performed True View was able to identify a few small issues related to the construction and condition of the house. I was satisfied with the report that was generated and all seemed initially to be fine. Less than two years later there was a major and obvious structural issue identified during my first routine septic service. The vent and trap for the septic was found to be enclosed in the crawl space under the house. What this means is that the methane gas that puffs out of the septic is trapped under the house in the same space as the boiler and electric panel. This is a major code and safety violation, and a very expensive thing to remedy.
. One of the owners got back to us promptly and we were able to schedule the soonest time they had available, which was a quick turnaround. Evan, our inspector, was thorough, personable, and overall really knowledgeable about all things home related. Between the differing tech, age of the home, and age of certain appliances, we were really impressed with Evan’s breadth of comprehension during the inspection and on the report.
