When a client is in the process of buying a house, so much information needs to be processed. So many factors need to be considered in a very short period of time. It can be extremely stressful! My goal as your home inspector is to help you focus on the purchase you are potentially making, to be a calming, yet informative presence. I aim to give you the vital information you need to make your home buying decision, but not to overwhelm with technicalities. I encourage all my clients to follow me around during the inspection so I can explain the components of the house- in a way even first time home buyers will comprehend. I hope by the end of the inspection- I have properly educated you and prepared you to make your step in your decision. I look forward to working with you!
Matt was friendly and professional in all his interactions with me! When it came time for the inspection of my home, he was well prepared. I was glad to see Matt arrive with a full tool belt, allowing him to check live electrical wires, GFCI outlets, air vent temps for the heating system, etc. Matt performed functional tests on just about every mechanical system in the house. Matt even brought a drone to check the condition of the roof and chimney. I was also impressed with Matt’s home inspection report, which was well organized, included many pictures and clear explanations of issues and recommended actions. I would not hesitate to hire Matt again, or recommend him to a friend.
I was very disappointed in this home inspection. He never tested the 3 toilets and they are were all leaking as we found out later along with the bathroom sink and shower. He didn’t bother to test the thermostats all of which were inaccurate. I asked him to test the irrigation system or at least turn it on and he said he didn’t do this. We found out later that 2 doors did not lock properly and had no keys but he didn’t bother to test. We also found out later the hardwood floor had a large stain which he didn’t notice and later said this was cosmetic and wouldn’t comment on this. This will cost us $2000 to have repaired/refinished. Finally I asked for a paper copy of the report several times but he said he did not do this with customers, only providing the electronic version. I received a very poor home inspection and as a result have had to pay for things to be fixed that he missed and could have been negotiated prior to the sale of the home
To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into my first home inspection. Matt was very patient, thorough, and explained all of his findings in a way I could understand. He is a builder, has his MA construction supervisors license and very well versed in the MA building code….The reasons why I chose him. I was happy with his service, advice, and the reports ability to outline issues to address. Thanks Matt!
